NFL’s “Sack King” Elvis Dumervil will be Joined by Teammates Dec. 7 to Shop with the Kids from Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives.

WHO:
Denver Broncos OLB/DE Elvis Dumervil continues his support for the Rev. Leon Kelly’s Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives program by hosting a holiday shopping trip. Dumervil, who leads the NFL with 14 sacks, will be joined by fellow members of the Denver Broncos and other local sports figures. Among the Broncos players scheduled to participate are linebackers Andra Davis, Mario Haggan and Darrell Reid; defensive linemen Ronald Fields and Kenny Peterson; cornerback Alphonso Smith and safeties David Bruton and Darcel McBath. Former Broncos wide receiver Rod Smith and Colorado Rockies second baseman Clint Barmes will also join in on the merriment.

WHAT:
Forty children, ranging in age from 11 to 13, have been encouraged to write up their “Holiday Wish Lists” for their families in preparation for an exciting evening with their favorite Denver Broncos. Each child will be given a budget to shop for gifts for other members of his or her family.

The goal of Open Door is to prevent kids from ever joining gangs, and in that pursuit has developed successful programs that focus on prevention among elementary-aged children.
